What is Embodied Self Defense?
Embodied Self Defense is really a heart project for me. I want everyone to be able to defend themselves when needed, without needing to practice for years and investing tons of time and money (except of course that is something you enjoy).
And I noticed, that often it is enough to apply principles of Embodiment and Martial Arts in a defense situation. This is how Embodied Self Defense came into existence.
But what is it exactly? How is that different from other self defense approaches and how could it help you - not only - in situations of attack?
You don’t need to feel anxious and vulnerable when you’re alone
As women we’re taught to be fearful of being attacked. This makes sense, since physically we ARE at a disadvantage against men. No matter how politically correct we want to be, it remains a solid fact that women have less power output, less explosive strength AND less testosterone than men, which makes us weaker opponents.
Unless you have trained professionally for years in certain martial arts or combat, your chances of defeating a male attacker, who already has adrenaline pumping through his system are slim. No matter how many self-defence workshops you’ve attended.
However, knowledge is power, and this knowledge doesn’t mean you’re sentenced to feel anxious and hopeless about protecting yourself.
With the right practices and embodied techniques, you can avoid physical conflict altogether, and even if it does occur, learn important ways to keep yourself safe.
